Electric Coach House Liverpool
Architectural Emporium worked closely with our clients, the consultant team and planners to create a new sustainable compact home within an existing coach house. the front facade had to be retained due to it being within a conservation area, but a creative approach was taken to internal alterations and rear additions with 3 zinc and glass additions featuring a mixture of glazed and green roofs. A side porch invites you into the property, where you access the atrium. Centrally a new core was introduced with a blue stair leading up to a blue metal bridge linking the two bedrooms and bathroom, but also allowing light into the hall below. A rear extension comprises the kitchen and dining room overlooking the garden, where a new volume is added as a garden workspace. Solar panels and batteries serve the property providing sustainable energy to the well insulated upgraded thermal envelope. Spaces are flooded with natural light from rooflights, existing windows and new openings. Spaces are designed to feel distinct and characterful but a coherent approach to colour and generous and unusual ceiling heights runs through the house, providing a spacious generosity that belies the footprint of the property.
